This collection of work was featured in the group exhibition ‘Extracting the Abstract’ at Twist Gallery January 3rd - February 28th, 2020 in Toronto.
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to fully be in joy? No expectations of an outcome, no worrying about the past or future, just presently feeling the joy that glows within you and around you? ‘Light Yourself Free’ represents different moments of finding joy, of finding light, and of how my heart took over my head and allowed me to experience the beauty both within me and around me. This is a collection of moments when my light led the process; when my intuition focused on the positive; and when my soul felt the joy. When I look at these paintings I feel an acceptance of my softness and a gratitude that I allowed my inner child to guide me. These pieces were not created with the intention of being a collection. However, over time I realized they held different stories for similar lessons and together this collection held significance in the importance of my light in my life. I was learning to find light, to be light, to share light, and to experience the whole range of light within me. This exploration of inner light led me to a joy that illuminates my life and can be embraced no matter what the moment.
